Last Rites becomes an offensive surge — granting AP instead of DEF, with all values 25% stronger. When an ally falls, erupts into a +50% ATK rage for 8 ticks — and every enemy the party kills rekindles a shorter burst of that rage.
"Grieve later. Avenge now."
When a Valkyrie reaches level 10 and you select Death's Herald, three things change permanently:
Last Rites: Grants all living allies +[13 + AP × 0.08] ATK and a +[8 + AP × 0.08] AP boost for 8 ticks (replacing the base DEF buff). Auto-triggers on ally death, also granting the Herald a +50% ATK rage for 8 ticks — and the Herald feeds on every death: each enemy the party kills rekindles that rage for 3 ticks.
Death's Herald grants the following ability score bonuses on top of the Valkyrie base scores:
These bonuses stack with ability score points allocated from levelling. They cannot be removed without retiring the hero.
When any ally dies, enters Death's Herald Rage — ATK surges for 8 ticks. Every enemy the party kills rekindles the rage for 3 ticks.
This passive is always active during combat — no gear or skill tree investment required to trigger it.
Offense (War Machine, Berserker's Resolve, Executioner), Chaos (Kill Cascade, Pain Reversal).
See the Skill Tree deep dive for the full 119-node reference and routing advice, or the Valkyrie build guide for a complete path recommendation for this class.
Both subclasses unlock at level 10. Compare them to choose:
